Wenge Penguin - Hans Bunde - Architectmade

It all started in 1954 with unique gifts. Conceived and designed by silversmith Hans Bunde. A handmade PENGUIN for each of his beloved sisters. In the penguins, Hans Bunde combined his love for his sisters with his fascination for these special animals, known, among other things, for staying together in lifelong monogamous relationships. Crafted from beautiful beech wood, each PENGUIN is unique. While the glossy hand-painted back resembles shiny penguin feathers in the sharp Antarctic sun, the front of the bird is preserved in its raw, untreated wood. Here, the unique lines of the natural material are revealed, only becoming more beautiful with age.

The Wenge penguin is carved from wenge wood and silky smooth beech wood. The fine lines that naturally appear in the wenge wood will become less prominent over time but will maintain its majestic and unique appearance.

The PENGUIN Wenge is available in a mini version at 13 cm in height, a small version at 18 cm in height, and a large version at 26 cm in height.

Hans Bunde (1919 – 1996) was a renowned Danish silversmith. He trained at the internationally recognized Cohr Sølv and made his mark on the company's product line – especially throughout the 1950s, when Hans Bunde was the head designer at Cohr Sølv. The designer is recognized for his work with silver, where he distinguished himself with his clean lines and a graphic look that is both soft and razor-sharp.
